About EMI Calculator

A loan's true cost hides in the amortisation maths. The EMI Calculator breaks down any loan — home, car, personal or education — into its exact monthly instalment, total interest outgo and payment schedule, so you can see what the bank's 'attractive rate' really costs over the years.

Adjust principal, interest rate and tenure to compare scenarios instantly: what happens if you borrow 5 lakh more, negotiate 0.5% off, or shorten the loan by three years? All calculations happen locally — no data is submitted anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the EMI formula?

EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n / ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is the principal, r the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n the number of monthly instalments.

Why does total interest look so high?

Interest compounds on the outstanding balance, so long tenures pay far more interest even at low rates. Try shortening the tenure in the calculator — the savings are often eye-opening.

Does this work for home, car and personal loans?

Yes — any reducing-balance amortised loan works: home loans, auto loans, personal loans and education loans.

Are prepayments included?

This calculator gives the standard schedule without prepayments. For prepayment planning, use the EMI Planner in Calculator Studio, which models extra payments.
