About BMI Calculator

Body Mass Index is the quickest first-glance health check: a single number that places your weight relative to your height and flags whether you are underweight, normal, overweight or in the obese range. This calculator computes your BMI instantly and explains what the category means in plain language.

It runs entirely in your browser — your height and weight are not stored or transmitted. Use it as a starting point for a health conversation, not a diagnosis: athletes, pregnant women and children need specialised interpretation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is BMI calculated?

BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². For example, 70 kg at 1.75 m gives BMI = 70 ÷ (1.75 × 1.75) ≈ 22.9.

What is a healthy BMI range?

For most adults the WHO defines 18.5–24.9 as normal, 25–29.9 as overweight and 30+ as obese. Below 18.5 is considered underweight.

Is BMI accurate for muscular people?

Not perfectly — muscle weighs more than fat, so athletes often score 'overweight' despite low body fat. Use BMI as a screening hint, not a verdict.

Is my health data stored?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent to any server.
